Largest dance Zumba Class of the world





















North Lanarkshire, Motherwell, UK -- A class of 836 people danced their way into the record books at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell during an event organized by North Lanarkshire Leisure - setting the new world record for the Largest Zumba Class. 
 Melanie Menzies, Health and Fitness Manager with North Lanarkshire Leisure, who organised the event, said: “The whole place was absolutely buzzing.”

   
The previous Guinness World record for the Largest Zumba Class 
was 575 people, held by Dalhousie University in Canada.

   
Zumba is a dance craze sweeping the world and is a cross between aerobics and Latin dance.

   Melanie Menzies, health and fitness manager with North Lanarkshire Leisure, said: “It was such a great atmosphere, the whole place was buzzing.

   Blane Dodds, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure, added: “The Zumba event was spectacular. We are delighted to have marked the opening of this fabulous facility by breaking a world record.

   Jim Logue, chairman of North Lanarkshire Leisure, said: “It is great to see physical activity and human endeavour return to Ravenscraig again.
   “It is hoped the facility will play its part in turning out future champions for sport in Scotland and encourage more people to be more active more often.”
