Longest Ski Hat: World record

A 700-foot-long ski hat knitted Gini Woodward, now of Bonners Ferry, weighs 80 pounds sets the world record for the Longest Ski Hat.
There is no previous Guinness world record for the Longest Ski Hat.

The Guinness World Records' website indicates the largest knitted hat record was set in 2008 in Germany with a hat that measured 22 feet high and 49 feet in circumference.

The Guinness world record for the largest Santa hat measures 15.47 metres (50 ft 9 in) long and 8.23 metres (27 ft) wide and was created by children from the Chill Youth Club (all Norway).

Also according to Guinness World Records, the largest straw hat measures 6.65 m (21 ft 9 in) in diameter and is 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) high. The hat was made by Atalia Bis & Partners Company in Kozieglowy, Poland.

The World's Longest Ski Hat was created with a punch card-programmed knitting machine, according to press clippings kept by the Bonner County Historical Society & Museum.

Realtors from the Tomlinson Sandpoint Sotheby's International Realty paraded the hat from Cedar Street Bridge to Jeff Jones Town Square when the carnival kicked off. It was also featured at the Ski & Board party.
